Hwigyeong Girls' High School Writing Academy
Our class had a great first session, going over some basic intros, class procedures, and looking at the building blocks of a paragraph -- topic sentences, body sentences, and conclusions.
We put together the skeleton of a paragraph about a skill we'd like to learn and why in class. For homework, please respond to your invitation from the class Canvas Discussion area and figure out how to log in. Click the "Discussions" link on the left side of the page and then the blue button that says "+ Discussion." Then, type up your paragraph for the first post in the discussion area. Please use "Session 1/Your Name" as the subject line of the post. Be sure to post before midnight Sunday night, May 12th.
After that, please use the Sandwich Method (photo below) to give feedback to one classmate by replying to their post in Canvas before we meet again on Thursday. This method means you give some specific positive comments about their writing, and a comment or suggestion about something that is not quite clear or could be improved, along with a suggestion on how to improve it, and finishing off with a general positive statement about the piece of writing overall.
The instructions we went through to build our paragraphs are attached below.
We finished off our session with a few minutes' journal writing on "How do people know when you are upset?" While you are not required to share your journal entries with anyone, they are your personal writng about your thoughts and feelings, I will enjoy reading them if you'd like to share them with me and I will respond.
Don't forget the Word, Quote, and Joke of the Day!
Thanks for a great class!
